flashback friday- the sierras
i realized that its friday and i hadn't set up an autopost for flashback friday, so i scrambled to find a picture. this is all i could come up with for now...
lol... a picture of me when i was seventeen and out backpacking in the sierras, near bishop. i had scrambled up on this rock, carrying my dog, to sit and enjoy the peace & quiet and majestic scenery, when a friend snapped this shot. i don't have that many pics of myself when i was teenager- this is one of perhaps a handful. this picture was taken less than five miles from the mountain meadow where jason and i were married many years later. so much of my life has been shaped by my early encounters in the sierras. obviously, i look like i belonged in the outdoors even back then. why it took me years to realize that i should pursue a career in geology when it was hitting me over the head, screaming for attention as an option ever since i was a small child, i'll never know. but i'm glad i eventually got the hint!
we are off to the dentist for the third day in a row now (everyone needs to have their teeth cleaned before school starts, including me, and they only book two family members per day). when we return, i'll finish up a second post that i'm working on for today, so stay tuned. happy friday!
