this event was held on march 16, 2007, at the lapd mission station. ryan was one of the children honored at this event, but couldn't be there, due to his very fragile immune system. his sponsor was senior lead officer larry martinez of foothill division. here is the text description of the event from the lapd website news release: "On Saint Patrick's Day, Los Angeles City Fire and Police Personnel will be participating in their fourth annual combined Saint Baldrick's Event. Participants, or "Shavees" as they are known, will be collecting pledges from friends and family in exchange for shaving their heads. The bald heads signify solidarity with the child victims of cancer, who often lose their hair while undergoing treatment.
